sick

Hey guys, I'm going to have to apologize for the lack of posts the last month, but unfortunately it'll take another month before I'll have to show you something... a few weeks ago I got very sick with lots of stomach ache days in a row which made me unable to do anything nice, and after seeing a specialist it turned out I had some gallstones in my gallbladder which were blocking everything and they had to remove the bladder in the hospital. It's a very routine operation and it doesn't take long, but the recovery differs from person to person and it's been taking some time with me. I've been laying in my bed for a week and it still hurts when I have to get out of it, and it can take another week before I'm ready to go to school again. My exams also start in a week so untill' the end of June I'll be pretty busy. Sorry for the lack of posts, hope you can forgive me!

winning days

As you guys may or may not know, the Japanese cherry blossom festival, Hanami, passed a couple of weeks ago. It's held all over Japan in spring and people view the lovely cherry blossom trees that are in bloom in that period. I live very close to a Japanese Garden (for the ones in Belgium: it's in Hasselt) that also celebrates the event and it's amazing to see the whole garden full of pink flowers.

Unfortunately this year I didn't go, since it has been raining for weeks on end. Hopefully next year the weather will be better, but I do have some pictures left from last years Hanami festival when the sun was shining and it was unusually hot for april!

If you want to see the Japanese gardens, they celebrate important Japanese holiday events so it's nice to go on a day like this to see something new! You could go on Children's day in May, or my personal favorite: the star festival Tanabata in July.

You can buy a crane bird for good luck, and it gets added to a string of them in the garden.

Don't forget to bring some food for the massive koi fish!

answer to yourself

A few months ago I went to a flea market where I found this dress with a print of leaves all over it. It was a very cute print but the dress came to my ankles and the collar wasn't pretty at all! So I made it shorter and adjusted the collar to a round one and threw a belt over it, and I'm very happy with the result.

By the way, my camera broke and I have no idea how to fix it. Every time I stick in batteries it keeps saying that the battery is dead even though they're new ones, so I'm forced to take pictures with photobooth right now :(

sugar town

A little photodiary of last week! I didn't go a lot of places since it rained every day and I catched up on some reading and schoolwork. I did go out for a nice cup of coffee with a friend, and went to the Cy Twombly exposition in the Bozar in Brussels.

Made tagliatelle with seafood. Some garlic oil and lemon juice over your pasta, and some paprika powder while baking the seafood can do miracles to this dish!

The Walking Dead boardgame on a cloudy sunday noon.

I went to the thrift store today and did an amazing find! This Pepe Jeans dress (which I'll show you up close later) was in stores for around the price of 100 euros, I found it for only 4!

Some cute teacups. I'm planning to make a candle from the top one.

Nothing better than a nice breakfast. Scrambled eggs with chives.

I was planning to make an outfit post on this one, but then the batteries on my camera died, so I just got this photobooth picture and that'll have to do!

here comes the sun

A few days ago I went to the newly opened 60s museum at Bokrijk (for those who don't know: it's an open-air museum in Belgium where you can see how life was in the 1800s) and I can definitely recommend it to all you leaving in Belgium or the Netherlands! It's not huge, but it's worth taking a train-ride for on a sunny day!

It's a very interactive museum where you can have loads of fun listening to hits from the 60s, looking what hairdo from that time looks best on you, and lots of other things. At the entrance you get your own passport of a person living in that time (completely styled like the passports in the day, I recognized my grandma's in it!) and you can put it on screens in every room that read the code in the back. That way you can read how the person you got experienced the 60s, it gives a very nice touch to the museum as every visit is different.

Various things from the 60s era are completely rebuild with original furniture like a house, supermarket, hairdresser, pub, ...

If you're under 26, entrance to the museum is only 2 euros, but I recommend you book a place beforehand since the first weeks will be busy!

Don't forget to visit the rest of the open-air museum too! One of the many fun things is the old candy shop in the old rebuild village with some of Belgiums finest candy from back in the day! All of you Belgians will probably recognize what's in my paper bag, right?

The weather was very cold and rainy the day I visited, and since I live nearby I will probably be returning for the rest of the museum on a day with a bit more sun.

basic space

I forgot to show you one of my favorite thrifted pieces from a few weeks ago! I found this lovely pink 60's skirt at my local thrift shop and I can't wait to wear it loads this summer. It's such a nice length and colour and I feel so feminine in it. I have some thrift shopping and flea markets coming up next week so hopefully I can find some more of these amazing pieces!

Also hoping the sun will come out so I can get somewhat of a tan this spring, but I've never been the most tanned of girls, I always seem to be as white as ever, just getting more freckles instead!

bodysuit - primark, skirt - thrifted, ballet flats - h&m
